Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) programming is designed to spark an interest in these subject areas and to introduce members to a wide variety of interests and skills which can lead directly to career opportunities. Through STEAM programming, Club staff encourages youth to try new things and explore fields and areas of interest that may not be readily available otherwise.
In this Program
Computer Labs
Computer labs for both younger members and teens invite learning about coding, game development, and other computer science related fields.
LEGO Robotics
The Club participates in the FIRST LEGO League competition – an initiative that combines teamwork, ingenuity and programming skills and inspires youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.
Guest Presenters
Guest presenters, such as students from UML’s National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) or employees from ThermoFisher and Triton Systems, allow experts in various STEAM fields to introduce Club members to new interests and possible career paths.
Makerspace
The Makerspace provides space and materials for hands-on creativity in a variety of visual art mediums including: mural creation, print-making, and fashion design.

Viewpoints
I came here just to meet new friends and play basketball. I never saw coming here as anything bigger than that, but now I see it as a great outcome for me and my future.
An investment in youth is the best investment you can make. You’re not only changing the individual’s life, but the outcome of a whole society, a whole community.
