With over 15 years of experience in the social service field, Justien has a strong background in youth development and community engagement. She spent over five years at a non-profit organization in Cambridge, where she served as the Director of Volunteers and Engagement. The non-profit focused on bridging the educational opportunity gap by connecting students with consistent mentors and tutors, a cause that deeply resonated with Justien’s professional values.
Justien has more than nine years of experience in youth development, including roles as a Director of afterschool programs, a consultant, and a creator of inclusive curriculums. Her most recent position brought her to Lowell, where she worked as a Community School Manager for Lowell Public Schools. In this role, she was responsible for addressing the social and emotional needs of hundreds of students, connecting them with resources from various community stakeholders and partners.
Justien’s innovative work with Lowell Public Schools gained recognition from multiple news and media outlets. She is passionate about incorporating student voices and inclusive practices into all aspects of her work. Justien holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and an Associate of Science degree in Human Services from Bunker Hill Community College.
In 2023, Justien was inducted into her high school’s Sports Hall of Fame. Outside of work, she remains active in her free time, enjoying road cycling, hiking, and volunteering in her community.
